Hi! I’m Jonika…
…and I want to help you transform your deepest struggles into your greatest sources of wisdom.
When I was eleven years old, one of my friends died from leukemia. It was a sudden, overwhelming awareness of my own mortality, and I felt buried under, what I now know was, survivor’s guilt. I was too young to understand, my parents were woefully unprepared to handle a child who felt so much, and the resources just weren’t there yet.
As a result, I battled with anxiety and depression for years. I felt isolated and no matter what sort of therapy I went to, it rang hollow. Because logically I knew what was going on. I knew what was true and what I should do, but I couldn’t make myself feel it. I couldn’t make it anything more than just noise.
Over time, I realized I could distract myself out of depression. If I overwhelmed myself with work, there was no time to deal with the hollowness I felt, and if I became exceptional, then I could convince myself I had purpose.
I became the person everyone could count on. "Impossible? Give it to Jonika, she'll handle it." I climbed every ladder that was put in front of me. I attended beauty school while I was still in high school. I was working in my first salon before I even graduated and I became an unofficial therapist for my clients. Later, I tried my hand at the corporate world where I climbed from a call center all the way to a tech goliath where I worked as an user assistance developer and managed an entire company worth of API documentation and processes with minimal training. I learned everything on the fly, out of pure necessity, because no one else was up for the challenge. And a challenge was a distraction.
On paper, my life looked successful. I was the problem-solver, the one who could adapt to anything, the bright light who made things happen. But inside, I was running on empty, following a path that brought satisfaction for others rather than one I'd chosen for myself.
Then, my body said: "Enough." Clinical burnout hit me like a wall. My cortisol levels were so massively elevated that my digestive system nearly shut down. I stopped eating, lived with constant sickness and nausea, and my anxiety took complete control of my life. I felt like I was losing my mind; the capable, unstoppable person everyone knew me to be was falling apart.
Distraction was no longer an option.
That's when I discovered hypnotherapy. I was desperate enough to try anything, and honestly, I didn't even fully believe it would work. Nothing ever really had, but my first session changed everything.
For the first time since I was eleven, I could relax. I began to access parts of myself that had been buried under years of pushing through and performing. Hypnotherapy allowed me to actually process those major traumas and reconnect with who I was beneath all the conditioning and distraction. Slowly, I got my life back - my creativity, my joy, my sense of possibility started showing up. But I didn't just recover; I discovered parts of myself I'd never known existed.
A year and a half later, I didn't even recognize who I used to be. The anxious, depleted person who couldn't eat had transformed into someone who felt genuinely empowered and excited about life. I realized that my breakdown had actually been a breakthrough - everything had to burn down so I could see all the possibilities that were waiting for me.
That's when I knew I had to share this with others. All my life experiences - the child who had no one to talk to, the hairdressing chair where I learned to hold space for people's stories, the corporate world where I watched so many people just run on the hamster wheel - had all prepared me for this new path.
I became a hypnotherapist because I want people to know that rock bottom and new beginnings are some of the most powerful times in your life. I want high-achievers to understand that addressing their mental health doesn't make them weak; it makes them unstoppable.
I want everyone to know that healing doesn't have to be hard and serious; it can be fun, creative, and even a little weird.
I'm the rainbow sheep who built herself from the ground up with blood, sweat, tears, hopes, and dreams (and a lot of black eyeliner & haircolour). I'm here to help you do the same - not by becoming dependent on me, but by remembering the power you've always had inside you. And you deserve to acknowledge that power.
Life isn't meant to be lived in survival mode. You're here to thrive, to find joy in who you actually are, and to build success that feels genuinely fulfilling.

Yeah. Fair enough. I was in the same boat. For me, science and spirituality go hand-in-hand, but I was also apprehensive. If it scratches an itch, take a look at the Research portion of the site. I’ve included a wide array of articles that detail the benefits researchers have discovered and continue to discover. With hypnotherapy we leverage the Theta brainwave state, which is the same state people reach in meditation and the same state you are in when you are waking up and falling asleep. It’s a normal, natural function of the brain that happens daily and we just give it some constructive direction.

With a very rare exception, all sessions are done over Zoom. This is done for a number of reasons, but mainly because it allows you to be in a comfortable, familiar space without having to get up and drive or travel afterwards. All you will need is a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down. You may prefer to have headphones just to make sure you can hear clearly.

You and me both. For whatever reason, I have always struggled to meditate. I feel like my mind is too busy. However, with hypnotherapy, your mind often feels engaged through visualisations and other sensory experiences that a lot of people who struggle to meditate find that hypnosis is the experience they have been looking for.

Absolutely not. Not even a little. The beauty of hypnotherapy is that you will not do anything you don’t want to do. You are fully aware and fully in control while in hypnosis. You will not share anything you do not want to share, and it certainly does not work as a truth serum. You are free to share as little or as much as you would like, but we encourage you to be open because that is when the best work happens.

It’s really up to you. Some people only need one session, others can average around 6-8, and some people enjoy monthly sessions just to “top up”. The idea is not to have you become reliant on sessions, but rather cultivate an inner knowing and confidence in yourself.
